On the morning of September 28, 2025, the lecture hall 1055 in the Research Building No. 1 at the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University was filled to capacity. Professor Zhang Ju'en, Honorary Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Chief Expert in Aviation Science Communication of the China Association for Science and Technology, was invited to deliver a lecture titled "Historic Progress in Chinese Aviation and the Vision for an Aviation Power" as part of the "Aviation Lecture Series" organized by the Zhongfa Aviation Institute (ZFAI)

Drawing on nearly six decades of scientific research and management experience, Professor Zhang traced the evolution of China's aviation industry through three pivotal years — 1951, 1978, and 1999 — marking its foundation, transformation, and breakthrough. He systematically reviewed the development of China's aviation sector from its humble beginnings to its current global standing, analyzing the challenges and opportunities faced at different stages. He also highlighted the industry's remarkable achievements in the 21st century and, from a global perspective, envisioned the path toward building China into a world-leading aviation power in the new era.

Professor Zhang not only offered an in-depth analysis of the evolution of aviation technology but also vividly embodied the engineering spirit of "bending over one's desk while embracing a grand vision." Drawing from his extensive practical experience, he shared vivid stories and personal reflections that deeply resonated with the audience, showcasing the enduring legacy of perseverance and innovation upheld by generations of Chinese aviation pioneers. The lecture was rich in content, broad in perspective, and received with enthusiastic applause.

After the lecture, faculty members and students expressed that they were greatly inspired. The session deepened their understanding of China's aviation development and further strengthened their determination to contribute to the nation's aerospace advancement and to uphold the spirit of "Serving the Nation through Aerospace."
Organized by the ZFAI, this lecture is part of the Aviation Lecture Series, a signature academic initiative designed to foster a rich academic atmosphere, broaden students' international perspectives, inspire innovation, and cultivate outstanding talents for the future of China's aviation industry.
