Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University is a school of Beihang University approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and established by Beihang University and École Nationale de l'Aviation Civil. Located in Hangzhou City - a paradise on earth, it is a Sino-foreign cooperative program with no separate legal entity under the guarantee of Yuhang District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, to provide education resources.
Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University will fully integrate the disciplinary advantages and talent cultivation characteristics of Beihang University and École Nationale de l'Aviation Civil, in exploring the elite international engineer cultivation paradigm offering bachelor-master degree education with the aim of "advanced standing, new model, and international vision". ZFAI will cultivate excellent engineers and outstanding innovative talents with a solid theoretical foundation, exceptional qualifications, creative thinking, and a global perspective.
Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University is located in the core area of Hangzhou West Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, close to the Hangzhou West Railway Station and the Liangzhu Cultural Site, a world cultural heritage. In the first phase of construction, the campus covers a land area of 1 km2, with a total floor area of 780,000 m2, including an excellent learning and living environment and scientific research and innovation conditions with its first-class teaching and laboratory environment, complete living facilities and a pleasant campus ecology.
Beijing University, referred to as BUAA, was founded in 1952. It is the first aerospace institution in new China and one of the first batch of national "Double First-Class" universities. It is affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The university currently has 82 undergraduate majors, 30 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, and 40 first-level disciplines authorized for master’s degrees, covering 11 disciplines. The total number of BUAA staff has reached 6951, with 3070 full-time teachers, including 30 academicians, 131 leading talents, 284 young talents, and 45 national innovation teams. Many national first prize winners, field experts and chief engineers have emerged among BUAA talent team, as well as a large number of young, promising and accomplished experts and scholars. Beihang University now has more than 37,000 full-time students, of which the ratio of undergraduate to graduate students is 1:1. In recent years, Beihang University has ranked in the top 3‰ on average in college entrance examination scores from all provinces and even entered into the top 1% in several provinces. In order to build an international exchange and cooperation network and platform, it has established long-term and stable partnerships with more than 200 first-class overseas universities and institutions.
École Nationale de l'Aviation Civil, referred to as ENAC, was founded in Paris in August 1949 and is now headquartered in Toulouse, the European aerospace industry center. ENAC is a first-class institution in the field of civil aviation and has a high international reputation in this field. Different from the aviation education in traditional universities, École Nationale de l'Aviation Civil, as an integral part of the French engineer education system, provides engineer education in the fields of aviation and civil aviation. It not only offers a number of advantageous disciplines and specialties, such as aircraft airworthiness, air traffic management systems, and civil aviation management, but also has close ties with key international organizations in the aviation industry, such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the French Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), as well as with major international aerospace companies, such as Airbus, Thales and Safran.
