On January 9, 2018, President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron witnessed the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between Beihang University and École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile.
On September 19, 2019, Beihang and ENAC signed the Agreement of Cooperation on the Joint Establishment of Zhongfa Aviation University between Beihang University and École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile.
On August 26, 2020, the interim campus welcomed the first batch of over 100 students, marking the opening of the interim campus.
On November 11, 2020, the construction of the campus of Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University was launched.
On November 20, 2020, the centralized evaluation council was held in Hangzhou with project defense and expert field visit.
On February 24, 2022, the provincial government of Zhejiang and the Ministry of Education of P.R.C signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province on Jointly Promoting the Development of Zhejiang's High-Quality Education for the Construction of the Common Prosperity Demonstration Zone, which underlined the support for Beihang University and ENAC to jointly establish Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University in Hangzhou (non-independent legal entity).
On December 1, 2022, Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beihang University, met with Liu Jie, the Party Secretary of Hangzhou. On December 2, Beihang University signed a cooperation agreement with Hangzhou Municipal People's Government and Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education to jointly build Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University.
On May 29, 2023, the inauguration ceremony of Beihang Hangzhou International Campus was held.
From August 8 to August 9 in 2023, the campus was in full trial operation. 54 Beihang graduate students experienced the new campus in a comprehensive and immersive way.
On August 29, 2023, the inaugural batch of students of ZFAI registered.
On September 15, 2023, the unveiling ceremony of Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University and the opening ceremony for the 2023 undergraduate freshmen were held at the Exhibition Hall of Hangzhou international campus of Beihang University, marking another significant step towards high-level Sino-foreign cooperation in education.
