The attendees included Lan Jingjing, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Division and Director of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Cooperation and Exchanges Office of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, and Chen Zhilu, Deputy Division Director of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR. The guests were accompanied by Sun Qingfeng, Party Secretary of the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University (H3I), Ying Weidong, Deputy Party Secretary of H3I, and Chen Chao, Director of the International Cooperation Office.

At the symposium, Sun Qingfeng elaborated on the development process and construction planning of H3I and the Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University. He said that H3I was making every effort to build an international education demonstration zone, a pool of top talents, a hub for interdisciplinary development, a cradle of major scientific research achievements, and an international platform for advanced interdisciplinary studies. H3I is striving to become a magnet for outstanding teachers and students from all over the world. At the same time, H3I is constantly expanding its partnerships and deepening the “1+N” diversified international training model. H3I expects to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the education sector of the Hong Kong SAR by inviting Hong Kong teenagers who are passionate about the aerospace industry to visit the Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University or by organizing students of Beihang University for visits and exchange activities in Hong Kong. H3I is committed to building a bridge for young people from both places to interact, visit each other, and grow together.

Lan Jingjing said that the development of the Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University was the result of concerted efforts from all quarters and reflected the earnest expectations of both the university and the local government to build a high-level and international educational platform. She pointed out that since its establishment, H3I had continued to make new breakthroughs in talent development, scientific research, and international exchanges. The Department of Education of Zhejiang Province expects to join hands with the education sector of the Hong Kong SAR to foster the coordinated development of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in Zhejiang Province and Hong Kong and Macao SARs by leveraging the high-level industry-university-research platform of H3I. Through diverse exchange forms such as summer schools and student exchange programs, more teachers and students from the Hong Kong SAR will be able to visit Zhejiang, learn about Beihang University, and thereby deepen and solidify educational cooperation between Zhejiang Province and the Hong Kong SAR.

On behalf of the delegation, Gong Guangpei, leader of the delegation, expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception extended by H3I. He said that during this visit, the delegation witnessed the outstanding achievements made by Beihang University in technological innovation and talent development, and gained a deep understanding of the innovative vitality and forward-looking layout demonstrated by Hangzhou as a benchmark city for the digital economy. These valuable experiences provide important references for the Hong Kong SAR in further reforming STEM education and in supporting youth innovation and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that young people in the Hong Kong SAR had a strong interest in aerospace technology. He expects the establishment of a long-term cooperation mechanism with H3I, creating more diverse development opportunities for students from both regions and contributing to the nation’s scientific and technological development.

During their stay, members of the delegation visited faculty and student apartments, the library, teaching buildings, sports venues, and the Industrial Science Laboratory to see the daily work, learning, and living environment of teachers and students, while experiencing the international environment and forward-looking education design.

H3I will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the education sector of the Hong Kong SAR to jointly create a new model of “aerospace +” international talent development, providing a broader stage for the growth of students in Zhejiang Province and the Hong Kong SAR.
