Photo by Zhang Ruizhe) As the grand annual scientific event “Fengru Cup” competition of Beihang University fell near, Zhongfa Aviation Institute organized a special lecture to help students gain a comprehensive understanding of this competition. The aim was to promote the “Feng Ru Spirit”, which centers on innovation and practice, to cultivate an atmosphere conducive to technological innovation, and to enhance awareness and capabilities in scientific and technological innovation practices. On the evening of March 7th, Mr. Ni Yikun, Deputy Secretary of the Beihang University Youth League Committee, and student representatives Kou Jing and Xu Ruohang were invited to the Hangzhou International Campus and they gave an informative and detailed presentation covering all aspects of the “Fengru Cup” competition.
Ni Yikun started by illustrating the core concepts of the “Fengru Cup” competition, providing a detailed introduction to the competition’s background, significance, and the essence of “Feng Ru Spirit”. He showed the students exemplary works from previous years to demonstrate the outstanding innovation capabilities of Beihang students. He specifically emphasized the creativity competition track, providing students with clear directions for participation in the competition. “After thirty-three years of competition, sparks have ignited a blaze,” he said. The “Fengru Cup” competition was established in commemoration of the aviation pioneer Feng Ru and has now become an important platform for Beihang University to cultivate outstanding innovative talents. He hoped that students from the Hangzhou International Campus could achieve outstanding results in the 34th competition.
During the lecture, the two student representatives shared their experiences participating in the “Fengru Cup” competition. Kou Jing used the seven stages of the project achievement demonstration to explain every aspect of innovation covering theory, technology, methods and practical application. Xu Ruohan, drawing from her own research experience, provided detailed explanations of the key points in the “Fengru Cup” competition. She encouraged her fellow students to have inner drive, actively communicate with academic mentors, maintain perseverance and determination on the path of research, and steadfastly pursue their scientific research goals.
In the Q&A session, Ni Yikun answered students’ questions regarding the ways of finding inspiration, balancing course studies and research, and registering for the competition. He appealed to students to actively look for inspiration, activate their innovative thinking, explore different fields of research, and lay a solid foundation for their future research paths.
The lecture marks a perfect start to the “Beihang and Hangzhou come together” series of this semester. This series of activities will help students from the Zhongfa Aviation Institute gain a more comprehensive understanding of Beihang University, broaden their horizons, and promote communication and exchanges between different schools of the university. In the future, more experienced teachers and outstanding alumni from other schools of Beihang University will be invited to the Hangzhou campus and give lectures on their experiences, which will provide students with more opportunities for well-rounded and diversified development, help them to draw inspiration from role models and keep forging ahead in their youth.
