How to be An International Engineer? Professor Frédéric Genty was Invited to Introduce French Engineer Education

Recently, Professor Frédéric Genty, French Dean of École Centrale Pékin came to Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University and gave a special lecture, "The International Engineers: A Sino-French Vision" for the 2023 undergraduate freshmen. This lecture is the second lesson of the "Master Series Course", which aims at helping freshmen to make plans for their future learning and personal development. This lecture was hosted by Hong Guanxin, the president of Zhongfa Aviation Institute.

Professor Frédéric Genty is the present French Dean of École Centrale Pékin.He received his engineering degree in material engineering in 1994 and his Ph.D. in photonics and optoelectronics in 1998. His research activities mainly focus on the research and manufacturing of optoelectronic devices, especially semiconductor-based light-emitting diodes, lasers and sensors. Professor Frédéric Genty is involved in several French national and international research projects as project coordinator and co-leader with academic and industrial partners. Additionally, he has supervised dissertations for numerous Master's and Doctoral students and has published over 100 papers in academic journals and conference proceedings.

Professor Frédéric Genty gave a detailed introduction to the French Engineer Education system, covering three key aspects: "What is French Engineer Education?", "Why is cultivating engineers necessary?", and "How to become an engineer?". The lecture was enlightening.

Professor Frédéric Genty traced the origins of engineering schools to the very beginning and introduced the renowned French engineering school (Grande Ecole) along with its exceptional alumni. According to Professor Frédéric Genty, GrandeÉcole is the primary training base for talents in the fields of military affairs, high-tech, and business administration in France. It has produced numerous outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to various industries worldwide.

Professor Frédéric Genty's lecture sparked a heated discussion among the students. During the Q&A session, students spoke enthusiastically, creating a warm atmosphere.

At the end of the lecture, Dean Hong Guanxin awarded the “Master Series Course” certificate to Professor Frédéric Genty and expressed his gratitude to Professor Genty for his wonderful lecture for students at Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University.
