Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University (ZFAI) is a sino-french institute established in 2023 through a partnership between the École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC), a French engineering school specialized in the air transport sector, and Beihang University, one of China’s most prestigious universities. The ZFAI institute is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on a brand-new Beihang University campus opened in 2023. This cooperation project between France and China aims to support the rapid development of Chinese civil aviation, with a view to making it even safer, more efficient and more sustainable.
ZFAI institute offers the following programs: primarily, an engineering degree program leading to a qualification recognized by the French Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs (CTI); secondly, International Master’s programs (Beihang–ENAC double degrees); and more executive-education oriented Advanced Masters programs.
Based on the needs of the work, we are currently conducting an open recruitment for engineering cycle foreign teachers in the teaching series. The specific requirements for the positions are as follows:
I. Job Positions
Position 1: Mathematics lecturer
Job description：
1.The lecturer will deliver his teaching in French. He will be able to teach in the mathematics related modules of the fourth-year of the bachelor program, the first year of engineering cycle program (including but not limited to probability, statistics, Measure theory, optimization, …) but also in the preparatory cycle, in both lectures and tutorials;
2.He will contribute to the revision and production of teaching materials (handouts, tutorial worksheets and exam papers) as well as to the marking of exams;
3.His/her workload will be defined by the Dean academic of the institute, under whose supervision he/she will work within the team, and will correspond to 12 hours of teaching face to face to the students per week. He/she will also work under the supervision of the coordinator of mathematics team for preparatory school cycle. His/her full-time presence at the institute will enable him/her to meet with students in his/her office;
4.His/her role will involve a variety of activities, with an interdisciplinary and international focus. He/she will be required to interact with other professors of the engineer cycle and with the teams in the preparatory cycle, in science and in F.L.E. (French as a Foreign Language) in ZFAI Institute and in the whole campus of Beihang in Hangzhou to coordinate the teaching programs in both preparatory and engineer cycle of the institute.
Job Requirements :
1. Agrégé professor is required, and also be able to teach in French, a PhD is preferred;
2. Have at least two years’ teaching experience in the related field(as a lecturer or teaching assistant);
3. Open-minded, and be able to work in a team and willing to collaborate with other teams.
Position 2: Distinguished Associate Professor in Physics
Job description :
1.Teaching: The distinguished associate professor will deliver instruction in French, with a teaching load comparable to that of a distinguished associate professor in France. He will mainly teach fourth-year students in the bachelor, which corresponds to the first year of engineering cycle through lectures, tutorials, lab sessions, and oral examinations. He will deliver 6-8 teaching hours in Physics engineering courses (including Signal Processing, Systems Engineering, Projects management, …) per week (45min/teaching hour). He will be able to teach in the second and third year of the preparatory cycle, in lectures, tutorials and/or practical labs if necessary;
2.Coordination of the Internships supervision team: The distinguished associate professor is responsible for organizing the internships supervision team of the institute, defining the needs, distributing internships supervision among team members, and adapting pedagogical approach for the students about internships. He may also be involved in recruiting new members to the team when necessary;
3.Ongoing Training of Teachers and colleagues: One of the distinguished associate professor’s missions is to train both Chinese and French colleagues in pedagogical practices for internships supervision for engineer students. His/her full-time presence at the institute will enable him/her to meet with students in his/her office;
4.Academic Support for Students: The distinguished associate professor will serve as the reference professor for internships for all students in the engineer cycle. He/she will be responsible for identifying students facing difficulties and contributing to find solutions together with the involved companies or institutions welcoming the students as interns;
5.His/her role will involve a variety of activities, with an interdisciplinary and international focus. The distinguished associate professor will work in collaboration with the Chinese and French director of ZFAI, as well as the Vice Deans to contribute to develop the industrial and academic partners network of the institute. He/she will manage various matters related to the industrial partnerships cycle and may, if he/she wish, propose and initiate new projects.
Job Requirements :

Position 3: Industrial Sciences lecturer
Job description :
1.The lecturer will deliver his teaching in French. He will be able to teach essentially during the 3rd year of the preparatory cycle, but also in the first year of engineering cycle program, in lectures, tutorials and/or practical labs;
2.He will contribute to the revision and production of teaching materials (handouts, tutorial worksheets and exam papers) as well as to the marking of exams;
3.His/her workload will be defined by the industrial sciences team coordinator and will correspond to 12 hours of teaching face to face to the students per week. His/her full-time presence at the institute will enable him/her to meet with students in his/her office;
4.His/her role will involve a variety of activities, with an interdisciplinary and international focus. He/she will be required to interact with other teams in the preparatory cycle, in science and in F.L.E. (French as a Foreign Language) in ZFAI Institute and in the whole campus of Beihang in Hangzhou.
Job Requirements:
1. Agrégé professor or professor graduated with Master and PhD, and also be able to teach in French;
2. Have at least two years’ teaching experience in the related field (as a lecturer or teaching assistant);
3. Open-minded, and be able to work in a team and willing to collaborate with other teams.
Position 4: English language lecturer
Job description :
1.The professor will deliver his teaching in English language. He/she will be able to teach essentially during the 4th year of the Bachelor and the first year of engineer program, in lectures, tutorials and/or practical oral sessions;
2.He/she will contribute to the creation and production of teaching materials (handouts, tutorial worksheets and exam papers) as well as to the marking of exams for the English language teaching program of the engineer cycle of ZFAI institute;
3.His/her workload will be defined by the Dean academic of the institute, under whose supervision he/she will work within the team, and will correspond to 15 hours of teaching face to face to the students per week. His/her full-time presence at the institute will enable him/her to meet with students in his/her office;
4.His/her role will involve a variety of activities, with an interdisciplinary and international focus. He/she will be required to interact with other professors of the engineer cycle and with the teams in the preparatory cycle, in science and in F.L.E. (French as a Foreign Language) in ZFAI Institute and in the whole campus of Beihang.
Job Requirements :
1. Professor with Master degree is required, a PhD is preferred. A native English professor is welcome;
2. Have at least two years’ teaching experience in the related field (as a lecturer or teaching assistant);
3. Open-minded, and be able to work in a team and willing to collaborate with other teams.
II. Compensation and Benefits
1. The teachers will be employed under a local Chinese employment contract;
2. The college will offer competitive salaries and benefits to newly hired teachers within the salary system of Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University.
