On November 9th, a delegation from Groupe des Écoles Centrale visited Beihang Hangzhou International Campus, Among the delegates were Thomas Maurer (the President of École Centrale de Lille), Mathieu Thomas de la Pintière (the Director of the International Department at École Centrale de Lille), Richard Perkins (the Director of the International Department at École Centrale de Lyon), Lavinia Stanescu (the Director of the International Department at CentraleSupélec) and Olivier Boiron (the Director of the International Department at École Centrale de Marseille). Zhao Weisheng, Vice President of Beihang University, met with the delegation. Ying Weidong, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of Zhongfa Aviation Institute of Beihang University, and representatives from the FLE department and the Office of International Affairs accompanied.
Vice President Zhao Weisheng extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the Groupe des Écoles Centrale,and introduced the history, development plan, talent cultivation and the construction of scientific and educational platforms of Beihang Hangzhou International Campus. Zhao Weisheng indicated that, Groupe des Écoles Centralewas a crucial partner of Beihang University,and the two universities have established a robust foundation for collaboration.He also hoped that both of them could broaden and deepen cooperation instudenteducation, teaching, and inter-school exchanges by fully leveraging the distinctive features and advantages ofBeihangHangzhou International Campus, to continually expand the scale ofjointtalent cultivation and collaboratively nurture high-quality professionals, thereby forging the Hangzhou International Campus as a pioneering hub for shaping a new paradigm in international engineering education.
The delegation from Groupe des Écoles Centrale also expressed their gratitude for the warm reception from Beihang University andexpressed their deep impression of the grand, beautiful, modern, and intelligent new campus. Besides, the delegation pointed out that, in the previous joint training program, students from Beihang University had shown strong learning ability and high overall quality, with outstanding performance. The Centrale schools hoped to further enhance the exchanges with Beihang University andtake the cooperation between the twoparties in talent training, scientific research, and other fields to a new level. Subsequently, both sides fully exchanged their views on the progress of the Sino-French joint training program, future cooperation modes and plans, and other related topics.
The delegation also visited the sports facilities, research areas, residential clusters, and the library to gain a comprehensive understanding of the architectural design philosophy and strategic developmental blueprint of Beihang Hangzhou International Campus, while having a detailed discussions with the foreign faculty members.
The Groupe des Écoles Centrale, founded in December 1990, is dedicated to cultivating multidisciplinary, versatile engineers and doctoral candidates who can effectively respond to today's societal challenges with innovative thinking.Currently, the Group consists of eight schools: CentraleSupélec, École Centrale de Lyon, École Centrale de Lille, École Centrale de Marseille, École Centrale de Nantes, École Centrale de Pékin, Mahindra École Centrale, and École Centrale de Casablanca.
